10 Months Ago...

Today was kind of a big day. I hadn't planned it specifically but I have been waiting for this day. Things had to be just so and Today was the day.

JB got turned out into a "pasture" for the first time since prior to his injury.

....10 months ago.

Truth is, he was actually given the "ok" from the doc back in December for turnout but our footing has been much too icey and dicey to be safe so I held off, choosing to keep him confined in his corral which was about a 50x70 area, until the footing was better.

So here are a few shots of JB testing out the new leg. He was huffing and puffing pretty good after only a few laps of running the perimater of his 2 acre pasture. He came trotting up to me several times as if to say .. "Did you see what I can do??"

The photos didn't come out the clearest(still trying to get used to the new camera!) but I hope you enjoy them atleast as half as much as I enjoyed watching JB romp and play for the first time in 10 months.

We realize how polite they are to be confined when they get some freedom! He looks like a happy guy.

Very cool, Jonna! I cannot believe it's been ten months. I'm sure the time went by much slower for you. So.. how did he look? Is he sound??

@Barb- Yes, he truly has been a real trooper throughout this entire process. He surprised me with how well he handled it all.

@Dom- yep, the tears were kinda streaming...as you can imagine..

@Amanda-Slow like Molasses in January.. He looked really good. After his initial half hour of smoking around, he laid down some and rested. I noticed he was maybe just the slightest bit off but I expect that as he uses it he may get a little sore until he gets the strength back, ligaments stretch, etc. He did one of the lovliest extended trots I have ever seen out of him though!

@CG- Thanks!
@Cheyenne- He was actually kicking at his tail. It think he forgot what it felt like to have his tail hit him when he runs! It was hilarious!
