The Eurolight has Landed!

It arrived today! I ran right out and got it on Maggie, played with the shims and pads and I think (fingers crossed) I got a halfway decent fit for her. I may need to do a little further tweaking but I have to get her a little more sweated up to see what kind of pattern I am getting.

The fit for me however is a little different story.

It's hitting my inner thighs and quite uncomfortable. I don't know if my ass (oops there I go swearing again) is just too frieken big and I am coming too forward in the seat for their version of a 15" saddle (it's usually the right size for me) or the twist is too wide.

I have an email into the dealer I went through so hopefully it's something we can fix. Otherwise I love it!!But I can't ride in it for any length of time the way it is now.

OUCH. That's unrideable. I briefly owned an Aussie that fit me about like that - I got bruises on my thighs inside an hour. Hope they can work something out!

It looks a tad tight? On you. I wouldnt say your ass was to big. No it looks like you are needing another inch?

That is EXACTLY the problem I'm having and I feel like I can't get off the rise. I rode two hours in mine and thought I'd die...took a week before the chafing quit hurting. I feel like my 15 inch seat is too small, and never felt that way in a 15 inch before. Keep me posted....I'll be interested in how you solve this.

et all- I am hoping the issue is just a size issue. I am going to try to ride in it a little more over the weekend, but I really think I am wedged in too tight. I also do alot better with a very narrow twist on my saddles and I am wondering if this is just a little too wide and flat for me.

E.G- I could see that riding in it for any distance is DEFINITELY not going to work the way it is now. I ride with a fairly long stirrup so this weekend I am going to drop the stirrups just a bit more, see if that makes any bit of difference. I will keep you posted!

Jonna,

I'm actually in the seat a little tighter than you are! I just can't post without rubbing the rise and it is AWFUL. If the seat change this week doesn't make a difference I'm going to see if they have a demo they can swap me in a 16 inch seat...without more cash outlay :/

E.G- I can't imagine being in any tighter than I already am. You should definitely not be hitting the rise when you post. I spoke with my dealer this morning and she wants me to play around with the position of the stirrup. I have it on the center setting, but I am going to bring it back one more. Then I need to just try to ride in it a bit longer than I did, which was only about a half hour. What seat change did you make?

They shipped it with the sheepskin seat, but I ordered suede which I just received. The sheepskin kept bunching under my crotch it was HORRIBLE. Not only the rise, but the wrinkle! Haven't tried out the new seat yet, haven't had time. But I'm sitting too far forward on that hump, and I feel kind of "perched" in the seat rather than low-slung like I'm used to. A lot of money to spend on a saddle, hope I can fix it! Actually I'm almost sick about the whole thing. My hopes were so high...

I have a 16" trailmaster, I don't know if the seat is the same for both models. I do remember having a little trouble with hitting my inner thigh in rising trot, when I first got it.
I had forgotten about that, until you mentioned it happening. Sorry, I can't remember when I stopped noticing it, probably after a few rides? It never happens now, and I've been riding it for a couple of years- either I got used to it, or it was a break-in issue I guess.
I hope you figure it out, I've been really pleased with the saddles.

E.G-A wrinkle in that area is NOT a good thing!! That was exactly the concern I had with the sheepskin so hearing that I am glad I opted not to order it. I understand the disappointment but if this saddle doesn't work out , there are others, right?? I too really want one of these but if it can't be comfortable.. I'll just have to move on.. find something that is... that's all.. I have my Duett that can get me by in the meantime if needed.

CG- that's good to know that the whole thing might be a break in issue. I have always thought that a new saddle , assuming it fits the horse and the rider, you should be able to sit in for the first time and feel totally correct in it... atleast that is how it is in all the English saddles I have ever ridden in or bought .. maybe it's different with these. I haven't lost hope yet!!

I was going to say... it looks comfortable, but I guess not! it does look too small. it's not you, it's the saddle!
